Bullpen

Description: This is actually a National Forest Campground on Clear Creek. Unlike the better known Clear Creek Campground, Bullpen is well off the beaten patch and is far less used. It is nestled in a wide canyon where the creek itself flows wide and clear. This is an old Cottonwood/Sycamore riparian habitat with excellent birding. Primitive camping is available.

Administrative Agency: Coconino National Forest

Restrictions and fees: There are no restrictions to hiking or parking. Access is free. Watch for fire warnings during the dry season.

Elevation: 3590'

Ease of road access: The road is over 5 miles of well graded dirt/gravel. Most of it is quite good, but there are few spots where you need to slow down drive with care.

Ease of hiking access: Hiking is available on marked trails along Clear Creek..

Approximate area size: 11.5. miles

Frequency of use by public: Lightly used.

Parking facilities: Limited parking

Non-bird Interests: Enjoyable walks and camping in a lush riparian forest.
